DSLR Camera's as apposed to Big TV Camera's

In recent times, music video's, tv shows and even some films are now being shot using smaller DSLR camera's as apposed to big shoulder mounted tv style cameras. This is for many reasons, first of all it is much easier to carry around lighter weighted equipment, secondly the quality can be better as different lenses allow different types of light to be consumed and frame rate can constantly be changed.

To shoot my music video, I will therefore be using a combination of two camera's, these will both be DSLR. One is the Canon 550D and the other one will be the Canon 5D. It is usually not reccommend to use two different types of camera's however in this case as the two models are almost identical with only slight differences, I believe that the 5D will be better for some shots and vice versa.

To get my head around this new style of filming I had to first play around with the DSLR. These camera's have a main purpose of being photography camera's and can shoot some amazing imagery. I therefore firstly took some photographs while changing settings on aperture, then changed things such as frame speed to see differences and what works best.

I later used these settings on video mode as this is what my main intention in using the camera.

The first picture shows where the appeture is very low and clearly the background of my model (reece) is very blury and allows him to stand out.

The second image however is of Reece with a very high appeture setting, here, everything including the background is in focus.
